Further to the database mishap..

Hey everyone.

I wanted to touch base and let you know what I have been doing since the Database stuff up the other day...

Now I know that many people are angry, and upset, and rightly so. I did make a mistake and it did mess with things - normally this would NOT be an issue as I could have rolled back 4 hrs and no damage done.

For reasons that are still eluding me [but I am still researching], the backups were NOT saving as they should, and the last valid backup that I had was 4 days old, instead of the regular 4 hourly ones like normal.

What have I done to rectify this? I have spent the last couple of days rebuilding the entire database backup systems [and included additional redundancy] which means the Database is now backed up EVERY HOUR which means that this will NOT ever happen again. These backups are stored on our backup server, as well as being emailed to me directly every hour.

I know that some people lost some fae from the secondary market, and for that I can only apologize again, encourage you to go come get an apology pack from the main sim [look for the Yellow Fairy Vendors] and for those who have bought and sold Fae, I encourage you to work out deals amongst each other - if you bought an expensive Fae [as many are quite valuable!] work out deals for new babies or what ever. $Lindens do not necessarily have to re-change hands.

When the roll back happened, all those crystals that could be born, also rolled back so there is a chance you can re-get those or similar Fairies which you can then trade / recover etc.

I want to be clear on one point here - I have had 1 or 2 people be quite aggressive, rude and nasty to myself and my staff over this situation. Lets nip that in the bud right now.

If I catch ANYONE being rude to myself, or to any of my Staff or Market Partners, or starting drama in the main chat, we will deal with that situation harshly. You are allowed to be upset, you are allowed to have your feelings and want them heard, but do not be a dick about it.

The Fae is born of compassion, community and working together - so in that light I encourage EVERYONE to work together to get back on track. Everything is running smoothly, and I can promise you that this will NEVER happen again - outside my backup solutions I have put in place I am looking at additional back up / restorative measures for any future issues.
